Are there any extra fees that I will have to pay on top of the listed price?
Backcountry safety equipment is included in the price of every tour. You will be required to purchase a lift ticket and provide your own lunch. Please wait until the morning of the tour to purchase lift tickets so that the guide can advise you on the type of ticket required.
We strongly recommend using touring skis or a splitboard, as this makes the hike much easier and gives you more time for extra turns! Alternatively you may need to rent powder skis or a powder snowboard, it can get quite deep here in Japan! Please see our Rentals page or contact us for advice on which rentals you will need and where to get them.
Should I print a receipt to show the tour guide?
No, you will not need any documentation other than your ID when you come on a Japan Snow Adventures tour.
How much does it cost to do a private tour?

Do I have to make a reservation or can I just show up?
Backcountry tours must be booked in advance after consulting one of our reservations team. They will place you in a group with others with a similar ability and experience. Private tours can be customised to fit your needs.
What ability level do you have to be to participate on a tour?
Please be aware that a certain level of fitness is required for our backcountry tours.
Typically there will be 10-20 minutes of hiking per every minute of skiing.
We require all participants to be at least level 1 on the fitness level chart (and level 3 if you wish to use snowshoes on a group tour).
Please also be aware that a certain level of downhill skiing or riding is required for our tours.
We require all participants to be at least level 1 on the downhill ability level chart.
Are we going Skiing even though it’s snowing and windy?
We do Ski in the rain, snow, wind and any other weather conditions that nature decides to throw at us. After all, we’re going on adventures! If the weather is unsafe for any reason, the trip will be changed or postponed. You will be notified the week of your trip if there are changes due to weather.
